CHARLOTTE TILBURY ’90s PINK’ LIP CHEAT LIP LINER
Lip Cheat is my backstage beauty secret for fuller, wider looking lips.
The velvety, waterproof formula glides onto your lips and smooths over texture for a seamless line, so you can resize and reshape the look of your lips.
90s-inspired warm rose pink lip liner with a long-lasting, waterproof formula that lasts for at least 6 hours.
In my opinion, the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat pencils are the best on the market for pigment strength and smooth application.
I’m on the fence about its longevity though as I’ve never found a lip liner that truly lasts six hours. But, I fell in love with the name even before I saw the shade.
Some reviews mentioned it can lean towards a mauve berry, which I know doesn’t suit my pale skin tone but I took a chance on it anyway. Fortunately, on me, it stays a true, flattering deep pink.
After applying it for the first time, I immediately ordered two more.
Have you ever owned a lip liner that enhanced your lipstick? This one does. It almost merges into your lipstick, intensifying the colour.
Also, despite its rich pigment, it doesn’t leave a ring around the lips as your lipstick fades.
My favourite Lip Cheat shades are:
- Pillow Talk – Of course. It’s like a rite of passage and seems to be everyone’s first Charlotte Tilbury lip pencil.
- Pillow Talk Fair – Cool-toned pink. This is the perfect shade to slightly overline lips.
- MI Kiss – Its previous incarnation was Bond Girl. The shade is noted as Natural Berry, but it doesn’t look like a berry on my skin, it’s more of a dark rose. It all depends on your lip tone which is why it’s always worth going in-store to swatch. These liners at £21 are an investment.
- Supersize Me – Described a deep nude pink. This is very pink on me, so I always use it with another lip liner.
- Savage Rose – A warm rosy red. This does look a little berry on me, but again, I mix it up. Sometimes you need a strong base-lip liner.
- Walk of (No) Shame – Described as a dark rose. See the theme here? Anything rose-tinted and I’m in.
90s Rose is the first lip liner I’m confident enough to wear on its own. It effortlessly complements all my deep rose lipstick shades. I was tempted to buy Hollywood Beauty Icon K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick in 90s Pink but many reviews suggest it’s not an exact match and is much deeper in tone. One even said it leaned toward terracotta.
I make no apologies for linking again to The Beauty Look Book. When I want an accurate swatch, Sabrina’s page is my go-to resource. She said the lipstick of the same name wasn’t an exact match and that’s good enough for me.
However, it’s not all a big love-in with the Lip Cheat pencils. While they don’t dry out – yes, I’m looking at you, Colour Chameleon Champagne Diamonds – the ‘wood’ (is it actual wood?) of the pencil doesn’t splinter if you use the official Charlotte Tilbury pencil sharpener. But it pains me to say that sometimes the lead falls out in a long piece before you reach the end. Plus, everyone knows that the end is nowhere near the coloured tip!
’90s Pink.’ A perfect name for a perfect lip pencil.
PS When I think of a nineties lip liner I always imagine brown. Shhh!
