ST. TROPEZ SELF TAN PURITY BRONZING WATER

The first thing that stands out about the Bronzing Water is its clear, lightweight, formula and the light, tropical scent. It’s far from the usual self-tanner smell.

APPLICATION

Applying the St. Tropez Self Tan Purity Bronzing Water is remarkably straightforward, but I have a few additional tips to enhance the official instructions.

Step 1. PREP Exfoliate and moisturise any dry areas.

I recommend avoiding exfoliation right before application to prevent any irritation. However, applying a light moisturiser all over is a good idea. The great thing about this product is that you can spray it over your nighttime skincare routine and wake up with a subtle, natural-looking tan on your face.

Step 2. APPLY Close eyes and spray 5-6 full pumps directly over face, neck and décolletage. No need to rub or blend in. Can be used under or over makeup.

I use a sweeping motion when applying, as the mist is very fine. Start with 4-5 pumps to gauge how you like the colour. As someone with very pale skin, I prefer to build it up gradually—just 4 pumps every other day works perfectly for me.

Be mindful of where you aim the first pump, as it tends to deliver the most product. The first time I tried this, I ended up with a darker forehead.

I wouldn’t apply it over makeup, as I believe the coverage wouldn’t be as even or thorough.

Step 3. GLOW Your tan will develop over 4-8 hours into a medium golden tan. Top up as desired.

I used a towelling headband to avoid the dreaded orange hairline – I was a bit paranoid!

The clear formula means no risk of staining clothes or sheets, though it also means you need to be mindful of where you’re applying it to avoid any missed spots.

The product absorbs quickly, leaving the skin feeling hydrated rather than sticky.

RESULTS

After letting the tan develop for 4-8 hours (overnight is ideal – I played it safe and waited 20-30 minutes before bed), I was thrilled with the results. The tan had a natural, subtle golden hue, completely free of orange undertones, giving my skin a healthy, sun-kissed glow. I also lightly sprayed my arms and legs, much easier than the usual fake tan and I achieved a more even finish.

The tan fades evenly without any patchiness, which is crucial for a smooth transition as it wears off. Its longevity depends on how often you reapply, but using a gentle exfoliant to remove dead skin will help keep it looking fresh.

I quickly decided to purchase the full-sized bottle.

FINAL VERDICT

St. Tropez Self Tan Purity Bronzing Water is an excellent choice for anyone seeking a natural, light tan without the hassle of streaks or stains. The lightweight, refreshing formula and pleasant scent make it a joy to use, and the results speak for themselves.

While it’s on the pricier side, the quality and ease of use make it worth the investment – even better if you buy it on offer.

Individual results may vary, so always perform a patch test before using any new product on your skin.
